His background as a geologist and his personal experiences traveling through Oklahoma’s rural landscape heavily influenced the book’s rich setting and deeply human narrative.

Set against the backdrop of a state emerging from an economic downturn, Of Love and Magic follows the thrilling, Bonnie-and-Clyde-like journey of an old man determined to reclaim his independence.
